Campus Provides ‘Inclusive Excellence’ Dialogue, Activities

Social Justice Initiatives and the Office of Campus Climate will host “Talking Circles,” a space to create dialogue about inclusive opportunities at UC Merced, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 20. The space is open to the campus community for reflection, quiet contemplation, crafting and individual connection.

Health Education Representatives for Opportunities to Empower Students (HEROES) will provide activities including a wall of kindness, revolutionary art, open mic session and a self-guided reflection walk throughout the day.

Join history Professor Mario Sifuentez and doctoral students Danielle Bermudez and Violet Barton from 3 to 4 p.m. for a panel discussion about inclusive excellence and becoming an advocate for creating a positive campus climate.

The Office of Campus Climate will hold its monthly Social Justice lunch discussion from noon to 1 p.m. Jan. 20 in Room 362 of the Kolligian Library. The campus community is welcome to attend to bring their experiences and ideas on institutional inclusion, respect and equity. Future discussions will take place on the third Friday of each month.
