Bio: 
Christopher Caskey is a fifth-year Ph.D. student in Interdisciplinary Humanities. He studies historical water development in California and the American West, with some emphasis on the role of recreation in environmental preservation. He plans for his dissertation to focus on human impacts along the Stanislaus River during the 19th and 20th centuries. He grew up in the San Joaquin Valley, and he worked for a decade as a newspaper reporter covering government and the environment before attending graduate school. He prefers sitting at the bottom of a canyon to standing on top of a peak. Advisor: David Torres-Rouff
