Chiquitha’s research foci include ethnomusicology, gender, African American diaspora, gospel & blues music, performance/music studies, and memory & sound.

Bio: 
Chiquitha is a PhD student in the Interdisciplinary Humanities program and holds a B.A. in Psychology. She works under the guidance of Dr. Jayson Beaster-Jones and Dr. Patricia Vergara. Her research investigates the historical impact and inspirations of musical styles, social stimulus, gender, and political influences of gospel and blues that are indicative to the African American culture, and its influences on America.
