Bio:
Emilie M. Cobb is currently a Ph.D. student at UC Merced
studying Interdisciplinary Humanities with a focus in bioarchaeology; she is being advised by Professor
Christina Torres. Prior to attending UC Merced, she received her M.A. of Anthropology and a
Graduate Certificate in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies from the University of North
Carolina, Charlotte, and her B.S. in Anthropology from Appalachian State University. As an
anthropologist, Emilie is interested in bioarchaeological representations of identity, social status
and hierarchy, sex and gender in bioarchaeology, and diet in South and Central America. She is
also interested in the incorporation of feminist, queer, critical race, and interdisciplinary theory
into bioarchaeological research.
