Bio: 
Genevieve Egbunno is a Ph.D. student in Interdisciplinary Humanities. She specializes in history and critical race and ethnic studies under the supervision of Dr. Maria Martin. She holds a B.Sc. in economics, an M.A in African Studies (Gender Studies) and a Certificate in Business and Entrepreneurship through the YALI RLC Young Emerging Leaders Fellowship. Her master’s thesis studied Women’s Social entrepreneurship and socio-economic emancipation of low-income women in Lagos. Her dissertation research plans to examine the conflicts that arise in marriages because of women’s economic empowerment in Igbo Land, Nigeria. Outside of the academia, she runs Sovieve, a social enterprise that focuses on advocacy, capacity building and empowerment.
