Research Interests: 

Karla’s research is focused on the effects of public policy on post 9/11 military families. Her research areas of interest include veteran transition and community integration, military spouse employment/underemployment and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) among combat veterans.

Bio: 
Karla Seijas is a Ph.D. student who studies political and cultural anthropology under the guidance of Professor Robin DeLugan. Karla’s connection to her research is a result of being a proud military spouse for over a decade. She is active in learning what the needs of veterans are, being an ally of military families as well as an advocate. Karla has held positions as a political advisor to the Government of Israel, Public Affairs Specialist for the Commander (rank of Lieutenant General) of the United States Army Installation Management Command, Transition Counselor for active duty service members discharging from the military and as faculty in the department of political science at Georgia Military College. She is involved in the local Merced community. Serving on the boards of Merced Sunrise Rotary, Merced Veterans Memorial Building Committee and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Merced County.
