IH Awards
Best Graduate Student Research Paper Award
This award honors the best original research paper written by a current IH graduate student within the 2020-2021 academic year. A dissertation chapter, seminar paper, published or unpublished article, and/or conference paper may be considered.
To be considered, nominees must submit the following materials on the IH website by noon on April 9th:
1) Curriculum Vitae (not to exceed two pages)
2) A sample of the research paper. This document should be 10 double-spaced pages, 12 point-font, Times New Roman, with one-inch margins.
3) Letter of support from your faculty advisor
Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award
The IH program recognizes the vital role played by teaching assistants (TAs) in undergraduate education at UC Merced. The IH Outstanding Teaching Assistant award honors a graduate student who has demonstrated excellence in classroom instruction. Nominations should be based solely upon responsibility as a Teaching Assistant within the 2020-2021 academic year.
To be considered, nominees must submit the following materials on the IH website by noon on April 9th:
1) Curriculum Vitae (not to exceed two pages)
2) 2-page-maximum reflective statement of the nominee’s teaching philosophy that addresses teaching goals, objectives, and experiences. This document should be double-spaced, 12 point-font, Times New Roman, with one-inch margins.
3) Letters of support from at least two IH faculty members.
IH Distinguished Dissertation Award
This award honors the best PhD dissertation completed within the 2020-2021 academic year. Evaluations will be made based on the nominated work representing significant original research, raising thought-provoking questions, and making an important contribution to the field.
To be considered, nominates must submit the following materials on the IH website by noon on April 9th:
1) Curriculum Vitae (not to exceed two pages)
2) Letter of recommendation from the dissertation advisor
3) Description of the dissertation research and its conclusions. This document should be 10 double-spaced pages, 12 point-font, Times New Roman, with one-inch margins. Appendices containing non-textual material may be included in addition to the 10 pages.
